Minky Mink Grand Re-opening and New Shoes!

I've told you guys about my favorite store Minky Mink before. Well they've moved to a new location which happens to be right across the street from my office.

This is so awesome for my closet but totally horrible for my wallet.

But anywho, here are my great finds!!

This is a Ya Los Angeles shirt. It's sheer, obviously and has button tabs on the sleeves and on the side, so it sort of has a cropped effect. I know it doesn't look special in the picture but it looks really fab on. So maybe I should start taking pictures of myself in the clothes?

This is a crop shirt from the New Romantics line from Free People; I think it's suppose to be this sort of whimsy, delicate vibey sort of line.

Here's a close-up. Don't you just absolutely love the collar? That's my favorite part!!
Ahhh!! I don't even know what to call these shoes but I'm totally into them. They are Nine West. I see myself wearing them with skinny jeans, work pants, skirts, dresses--everything. I think they would look adorable with opaque stockings or cute little socks.

*Let me add this--when I wrote the comment above, I hadn't worn these yet. Nine West shoes may be the most uncomfortable shoes on the PLANET. I can't even figure out why but seriously, any pair I've ever worn either hurts my toes or my heels. But I suffer through it anyway.

These are my favorites!!!! I absolutely love the wooden heel and obviously, the color. So bizarre though--the right is tight and the left one fits perfectly. Again, Nine West, so that's probably why. Anyway, I'm thinking about busting out some shoe stretch. I'll let you know how it works out.

New Clothes!

I just bought some new clothes from my favorite store, Minky Mink, in Glens Falls, NY. The owner is having a crazy moving sale so I really couldn't resist even though more clothes is the LAST thing I need right now.

This is a B.B. Dakota shirt. I absolutely love it. It's actually leopard print, although it's hard to see in the pic, and it's sheer. I think it will look classy with a pair of black slacks, darker denim, or white in the summer.

Here's a close-up of the print. So pretty!
So this doesn't look like another special but it's a tunic sweater-dress in a taupe-ish grey. This is also B.B. Dakota. Imagine this with a bright colored waist belt, I'm thinking yellow, black tights and black boots.

I love exposed zippers!

Drugstore Goodies

So here's my new post. Finally!
I really do need to get better at this if I really want to give it a-go.

Anyway, I just wanted to share what I picked up at Walgreens. I usually go to CVS but I wanted a really huge selection and my CVS doesn't always carry the newest products right away.

Drugstores may be on my list of top favorite things in life. I seriously could spend hours in them. So what started out as a trip to get some new shampoo turned into a little shopping splurge!

Leopard Heels and Other Inspiring Things

Okay. Some things. First, I'm a horrible blogger. I'll blame it on work: I've been so busy at work! When I get home I just want to crash on the couch and eat potato chips (my dinner last night consisted of chips, bugles, french onion dip and m&ms).
Second, I've been inspired. By three things, actually.

These shoes.
Caressa heels
I found them at a consignment shop. At first, I actually didn't think they were anything too special. Then, one day, it hit me. I had to have them. I started envisioning outfits that would be incomplete without them.
I'm waiting patiently to bust them out for the season. I can still get some wear out of summer shoes until maybe, the last week of September.

I've also been inspired by books. I rely too heavily on the internet. Maybe the word I'm looking for is....research? There's so much that you can't find on the internet. So, I'm going to start researching. What, I'm not sure yet. I'll keep you posted.

My treadmill, collecting dust, has inspired me. Actually it was the new Citizen's I ordered from Anthropologie that are slightly snug. My initial thought was, "What the hell?" but then I remembered that I stopped working out and drinking margaritas regularly. Oh, and maybe my potato chip dinners (see above).

So, to end this ramble, I'll keep you posted on my outfits with the leopard shoes, my research project and my personal weight loss challenge.

Also, I just bought John Frieda's 3 Day Straight. I'm trying it out tomorrow morning. I'll let all you curly-haired folks know how it works!

Thrift Store Finds: Bags

So this is my first video! I'm still learning so they will get better. Plus, I was a little nervous as you can probably tell!

My fun, slightly tacky clutch. It does have a strap but I mostly leave it inside the bag.
The Brighton Bag I found at Penny Wise. I really love the red tones in the leather.
I wanted to show the hardware on the bag; it's my favorite part.
My leopard print Nine West bag.
I found out that this is an old Liz Claiborne bag. The over-the-shoulder strap is removable.
The different between the old and new leather is so visible in the picture! I will give an update when the Ettiene Aigner bag restoration project is complete.

Cassie the Shopper: An Introduction.

I love to shop. I'm fairly sure I have inherited my love of fashion and shopping from my mother (she's very stylish). Growing up in the northeast, where winters are harsh, I remember bundling up and heading to the mall with my mother when we were bored. Sometimes to buy, sometimes just to window shop.

We're recreational shoppers. Rarely do I buy because I need; I have too many fabulous, timeless items in my closet that will live through multiple seasons. I buy because something is unique, because I have the money to spend, or because something looks fabulous on me- like these Easy Money 'Bitsy' Boot Cut Stretch Jeans. They are my FAVORITE. In these, I suddenly have long, lean legs! SOLD!

I pride myself on not being an impulsive buyer although I do own one or two items that, months after the purchase, I realize were a waste. But, I try to make the best of it. I'm not afraid to return anything that I'm unhappy with; even if it takes me two weeks to contemplate whether I really do want that gorgeous shirt that just doesn't fit perfectly.

My favorite things to buy:

  • Jeans: I'm not a complete jean snob. It goes without saying that some denim quality is better than others. Higher priced jeans will have nicer denim and probably a better fit. But price isn't everything; it's all about fit.
  • Shoes: I have the hardest time finding shoes. I have fat, flat and wide feet. It's horrible. But I make it work and have quite the shoe collection.
  • Bags: I will not buy anything with a label, letter or flower. Vera Bradley? Not for me. Can you say grandma? I typically buy my bags at thrift stores or T.J. Maxx.
  • Makeup: If I had the money, I'd be buying everything at Sephora. I purchase most things at the drugstore and make it work. I think most products at the drugstore are the same as the more expensive brands. Only some products are worth the splurge.

My least favorite things to buy:
Bathing-suits (Pretty sure that's everyone's least favorite! Except, maybe Gisele!)

I hope you will find my posts interesting and my tips useful as I begin my blog!
